Level 3 Mental Health Awareness At Work
The Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health (RQF qualification code: 603/3202/5) has been designed to help you build a knowledge base that can be used in a variety of areas such as in the workplace, health and social care career pathways. This is the course for you if you want to have a greater awareness of mental health issues and explore the importance of mental wellbeing & becoming a mental health responder in your work place
This mental health course will not only help you understand the importance of addressing mental health problems and how legislation and publicity are changing attitudes towards those seeking treatment, but will also equip you with the skills to work in mental health services.
A range of topics will be introduced through several study units about mental health services and improvements that have been made over the last 50 years. Through these, you will discover how the media influences perceptions of people with mental health issues and the ways in which inclusion and community support can make a difference.
Through this mental health course, you will study the effects of substance misuse on mental wellbeing and how mental health issues relate to the criminal justice system, as well as how an individual’s needs can change over their lifetime and the effects it will pose on family and society.
Further units will cover self-harm, suicide prevention and reflect upon a selection of mental health conditions.
The assessment will take place under examination conditions; i.e. learners will sit at least 1.25 metres apart and
will not be allowed to confer during the examination. No books, including dictionaries, will be permitted during
Each learner will be assessed for this qualification by the completion of a written examination paper.
This qualification is aimed at those over 18
Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English
language in order to understand the assessment and to undertake the recommended assessment methods.
There are no other pre-requisites for this qualification

- Know how to recognise the causes and impact of stress
- Know how to recognise the causes and impact of common mental health conditions
- Know how to recognise and support individuals with a personality disorder
- Know how to recognise and support individuals with Psychosis
- Understand how individuals may use harmful strategies to cope with a mental health disorder
- Know how to recognise and support an individual in suicidal crisis
- Be able to support an individual with a mental health issue
- Know the legal requirements for managing mental health in a workplace
This qualification is typically delivered in a face-to-face format over a two-day period.
Learners should complete the qualification within 6 weeks.
